we are always scouting and discovering new places when we shoot our catalogs each season, and one gem of a community we cannot keep secret is blowing rock, nc. fall is peak season to visit the area, and we’ve rounded up some of our favorite things to see and do when in town!
stay :there are so many adorable bed and breakfast options in downtown blowing rock, but we can’t stop going back to chetola resort. it’s conveniently close to downtown shops and restaurants and the resort’s spa is our ideal way to unwind after a stressful week.
do: a drive on the blue ridge parkway is necessary to take in the changing leaves and breathtaking views. the parkway is filled with hiking trails and is also home to the moses cone memorial park and flat top manor, the historic country estate of moses cone himself.
shop: almost rodeo drive is the one store we always visit, not only do they carry buckhead betties apparel, but they have a great home & garden section as well. we can always find something unique for that hard to shop for person at neaco, a small gift store downtown that sells eclectic items and barware. another shop you don’t want to miss is the mountain thread company, featuring handmade baskets and soaps by local artisans.
eat: the village café is a blowing rock brunch staple, and we wouldn’t dream of skipping it while in town. housed in an historic home that has been converted to a café, the atmosphere is charming, but you’ll be craving eggs benedict and crepes all weekend! after a long day of shopping, storie street grille on main street is a go-to for delicious salads and pasta.
