you saw in last weeks blog post that the betties set off on a trip to the westglow spa and resort for our annual staff retreat. as promised, we’re giving you an inside look at everything bettie in blowing rock! in pure bettie fashion, there were lots of laughs, good eats and of course, plenty of cocktails. it was a perfect time to relax, unwind, disconnect from the world, and connect with our fellow betties!
we wanted the true mountain feel during our entire stay, so we decided to stay in the mountaineer cabins, a short distance from the spa. these quaint little lodges are the perfect, petite housing for a cozy mountain getaway and they’re walking distance from a variety of restaurants and shopping downtown. we quickly dropped our bettie bags, popped the champagne for a round of mimosas, then headed to the spa to explore.

once arriving on the spa property, we toured the westglow mansion – an elegant, charming greek-revival style mansion. we took a few moments to walk the grounds, which equally boast a genteel elegance of a bygone era. the views were breathtaking.
from start to finish, our day was filled with pampering galore. we spent the morning relaxing in the meditation room, swimming in the pool and soaking in the hot tub. we ate our gourmet lunch on the pool deck and got ourselves ready to be treated like queens. once we felt fully relaxed to the max, we all chose two different spa treatments and headed off to find our zen. from facials and massages to full body scrubs, we were literally pampered head to toe. the staff was fantastic and every bettie left relaxed and renewed.

once our day at the spa was winding down, we didn’t want the evening to end! we got ready at the spa before venturing out for dinner.
after some great research for the best restaurant around, we wound up at the new public house, a local eatery with a laid back vibe and most importantly, great food! the menu features a classic american cuisine (with a twist of course!), complimented by an impressive selection of local ales, fine wines and cocktails. everyone’s entrée was superb. you really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. our favorites were the lobster nachos, shrimp and grits and public house burgers. we rate this spot a 10!

after dinner, we snuggled up on the couch, chit-chatted about our everyday lives, and enjoyed an evening with some of our very best gals. we are blessed to work with some of the best in the industry!
overall, our trip was truly a luxurious and unforgettable time. we’re refreshed and ready to tackle our new adventure now. stay tuned next week for our big reveal. you don’t want to miss it!
