from the recipe box – crockpot chili

nothing beats that cold winter chill like a warm bowl of homemade chili. not only is it tasty, but it doesn’t require much prep or cooking at all, just let the crockpot do all the work, while you’re at work! we especially enjoy coming home to smell dinner simmering in the kitchen. we’ve tried (& loved) many variations of chili, but we keep coming back to good ‘ole betty crocker’s chili, recipe below.

slow-cooker chili:
you will need:
-2 lb lean ground beef
-1 cup chopped onion
-2 cloves minced garlic
-1 28oz can diced tomatoes
-1 16oz can chili beans
-1 15oz can tomato sauce
-2 tablespoons chili powder
-1 ½ teaspoons ground cumin
-1/2 teaspoon salt
-1/2 teaspoon pepper
-shredded cheese (to serve)
-sour cream (to serve)

directions:
in large skillet, cook beef and onion over medium heat until beef is brown, about 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally; drain. in 4-5 quart slow cooker, mix beef, onion and remaining ingredients. cover and cook on low heat for 6-8 hours.
